Flower & Gem Essences
Since the beginning of time, people have instinctually known of the healing properties of nature through flowers, herbs, other plant life and even the very gem and stones of the earth itself. According to ancient legend, flower essences were used for healing over 500,000 years ago in a mythical place called Lumeria. Lumeria was said to be located in an area now covered by the Pacific Ocean and was supposedly in existence long before the more well known legendary civilzation of Atlantis. People have surrounded themselves with flowers because of the well being they received from the beauty. They may not have had the same understanding of the energetic properties of all things, but they did know what made them feel good.
In the early part of the 20th century the use of flower essences really took off with homeopathic practioners. This is due to the extensive research and development of flower remedies by Dr. Edward Bach. Bach Flower Essences are the most widely known remedies that have been marketed to the general public since. Bach's Rescue Remedy is now found in virtually every health food store and even in pharmacies and department stores. Rescue Remedy is actually a combination of five individual flower remedies and has a strong reputation for being an aid to shock and emotional stress. The study and development of flower essences has grown and evolved to include many, many more than the 38 Bach Flower remedies and also includes essences made from gems and stones.
In a nutshell, flower and gem remedies work on the energetic level and are used to help with emotional states. If you would happen to choose one that doesn't line up to an individuals emotional need at that time, there will be no adverse affect. Essences will not cause a misalignment in any case. They do not directly heal the physical body but from a holistic point of view, balanced emotions and mental health affect the physical health.
